Floor Mounts
Air Bag Friendly - Easy to Operate - Ergonomically Pleasing
SAFETY TIPS:

Front passenger side air bags are usually designed to deploy in a very wide pattern reaching in many cases past the center of the vehicle. These bags can deploy at speeds that can reach or exceed 200 mph. A floor mount should not be installed within the air bags deployment zones. For more information regarding the actual air bag deployment zone of your vehicle, please check the owner's manual for that particular vehicle. A mount installed in the path of one of the air bags or not securely fastened to the floor, can cause serious personal injury and/or damage to the equipment installed. It is very important to mount the equipment at a height that will not block or impair the visibility of the driver, nor impede the driver's ability to control the vehicle. If a mount is installed too high, and depending on ambient light conditions, the light emitted by the equipment mounted can create a blind area around it, decreasing the visibility outside of the vehicle.
INSTALLATION TIPS:
A floor mount should be securely fastened to the selected location. Some floor mounts attach underneath the seat bolts. Other types of mounts attach to the vehicle floor or the transmission hump with screws. Some transmission humps have plastic ducts and / or electrical wiring running along its side or top beneath the carpet. The best procedure to determine what is between the carpet and the metal floor, is to partially lift the carpet and inspect it visually. If the floor mount is fastened to a plastic air duct running along the top of the hump, it will not have the necessary strength to hold the equipment safely. In such cases, using a set of base stabilizers is recommended. Using these stabilizers will facilitate fastening the floor mount to the sides of the hump where metal should be found. If the plastic air ducts run along the sides of the hump, then the floor mount should be securely fastened to the top of the hump where metal should be found beneath the carpet. It is also important to remember that when installing a tall mount, stabilizing supports should be used to secure the mount safely. The vibration induced by a floor mount that is not braced properly can damage the equipment mounted on it, and/or in turn making it become loose, creating a hazard for the occupants of the vehicle.
